According to local legend, Frangelico found its origins in the Piedmont hills by the Christian monks living there in the eighteenth century. Their impressive skills and familiarity with distillation led them to the creation of Frangelico liqueur, named after the legendary monk that lived in the hills at the time.
Frangelico is made from the local hazelnuts of the region, which they claim are the best of their kind. The hazelnut extract is accompanied by coffee, vanilla and cocoa and then aged for six to eight weeks to create a sweet golden liqueur. This versatile hazelnut liqueur can be enjoyed in many forms; as a shot, on the rocks with a wedge of lime, or mixed into a beautiful cocktail.
