Wild Turkey begins its whisky story in the 1860s with the opening of the Ripy family distillery on Wild Turkey Hill in Kentucky, where the two Ripy brothers began to produce bourbon. In 1954 Master Distiller Jimmy Russel joined the brand after having learned from generations before him, descended from the original Ripy family.
Ever since the quality and range of the Wild Turkey products has grown in size and quality. They pride themselves on their craft and ingredients, using water from the Kentucky River and their own original yeast strain which makes all of their whiskies unique to the brand.
