Seedlip's founder Ben began his mission in 2013, upon his discovery of the 1651 book 'The Art of Distillation'. It documented the work of physicians, who used distillation to concentrate natural ingredients into non-alcoholic herbal medicines. Ben began practising this in his kitchen with his own tiny copper still and herbs from his garden and eventually came up with the Seedlip brand.
