Lillet was founded in 1872 by brothers Paul and Raymond Lillet in Bordeaux, one of the most significant places for the European wine business at the time and a thriving harbour city. Growing fears around illness in France at this time led to a growing demand for fortified wines with the addition of quinine, which at the time was said to fight fevers and symptoms of malaria.

Lillet's range of wines continued to expand as wine tastes changed across the world and today they have 5 variations of their quinine fortified wines.
