Lagavulin distillery is found in a village of the same name on the Scottish island of Islay. Its story began in 1816 when the site became home to two distilleries set up by John Johnston and Archibald Campbell. The two eventually merged to become Lagavulin and have since specialised in slow distillation in their unique pear-shaped stills.
Lagavulin 16 Year Old is their flagship spirit; a single malt whisky highly sought after due to its punchy flavours that are unique to Southern Islay. Aromas of smokey sweet spices, pungent iodine, mature Sherry and vanilla are strong on the nose, followed by rich flavour. Tasting notes of malt and fruity sweetness are balanced with powerful peat and oak, ending in a long and spicy finish.
Enjoy neat for the full experience, and pair with a pungent blue cheese to complement the sweet and salty character of this single malt. You don't want to miss this one, so grab your bottle for a great price at the Spirit Store.
